Pond pH is only one part of water chemistry. A useful diagnosis considers pH, alkalinity, hardness, source water and phosphate before choosing a treatment. Changing one value without testing can create a new problem or hide the original cause.
Start with measurements
Use an appropriate test method and record the result, time of day and recent weather or water changes. pH can vary over a daily cycle, so one isolated reading may not describe the full pattern. Test source water separately when a fill or top-off preceded the change.
Understand the main parameters
pH
pH describes how acidic or basic the water is. If testing confirms that an adjustment is required, use a product designed for the correct direction: pH Higher for a verified low reading or pH Lower for a verified elevated reading. Follow the label and retest before repeating treatment.
Alkalinity and buffering
Alkalinity represents the water's buffering capacity and affects pH stability. Buffer Block is a gradual support product, not a substitute for testing or an immediate pH correction.
Phosphate

Chlorine in source water
