Description
UltraClear® Potassium Permanganate Liquid Solution is a pond oxidizer for two distinct uses: improving cloudy pond water by oxidizing organic material and supporting external fish care for common parasites, bacteria and fungi. Follow the dose for your treatment goal—do not substitute the 2 ppm clarity dose for the 4 ppm fish-care dose.
Before You Treat
- Read the entire label. Treat before noon so fish can be observed.
- Increase circulation and aeration before and during treatment.
- Wear gloves and eye protection. Mix the measured dose into a gallon pail of pond water, then disperse evenly around the pond.
- Do not use with other treatments, including water conditioners, dechlorinators, formalin, formaldehyde or medications.

Maintenance: Use half of the water-clarity dose. One 16 oz bottle treats up to 6,000 gallons at the 2 ppm clarity dose or 3,000 gallons at the 4 ppm parasite/bacterial dose.
Monitoring and Re-Dosing
The water should hold a pink hue for at least 6 hours. If the color disappears in less than 45 minutes, repeat the full dose. If it disappears after 1–2 hours, repeat with half the clarity dose (1 ppm). Bypass the biological filter when treating at 3–4 ppm. For parasite care, repeat every 3–4 days if needed.
Plant Dip
Mix 1 teaspoon per 5 gallons of water and dip plants for up to 1 hour.
When and How to Neutralize
Stop treatment immediately if fish show extreme discomfort, including jumping or gasping. Neutralize if fish are distressed or if the product remains active after 8 hours. Use 3% hydrogen peroxide at 2 tablespoons per 100 gallons (1 cup per 500 gallons). Wait 4 days before treating again.
Safety: Keep out of reach of children. Do not ingest. Avoid eye and skin contact; flush exposed skin or eyes with water. This product stains. Intended for ornamental pond fish and most live plants; it may harm snails and is not for fish intended for human consumption. Water hyacinths may be sensitive.
