The Environmental Protection Agency is responsible for enforcing
regulations pertaining to pesticidal claims. Companies that manufacture
products that make pesticidal claims must register their products with
the EPA under FIFRA, the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide
Act.
Manufacturers 'CAN NOT LEGALLY' make claims to eliminate algae
or reduce algae on their labels, in their literature or even on their
website unless the product is registered. Companies that make claims of
eliminating algae or reducing algae without registration are in
violation of Federal Regulations. Our policy at
ABI is to fully comply with all federal regulations including FIFRA.
Retail business should be informed of EPA regulations and are at risk

EPA Enforcement Alert. Manufactures
supplying products that have labels, literature and web site violations
are at risk of being fined or business interruption if they violate
federal regulations. Such a disruption could affect the supply of the
product therefore jeopardizing the effort the retailer has invested in
establishing the brand.
Self-regulation within the industry is important. Retailers and
manufacturers are responsible for working together to insure that
everyone is in compliance with FIFRA. Contact the EPA or the
manufacturer if you have any questions or concerns about a company's
compliance.
ABI is committed to total compliance with Federal EPA regulations.
